LED Embroidery / Soft Circuit
For this project I used: Felt, 4 LED's, a lithium battery and conductive thread. I created a contact-push button with the centerpiece and arranged the LED's in a parallel circuit. In general, the LED's stayed on, but the light was not intense enough, as the circuit requires some tweaks in the current and voltage. The push button operated fine, forming the circuit precisely.

DIY Stepper Motor Controller
Following the ITP-Pcomp tutorial "Controlling a Stepper Motor With an H-Bridge" we manufacture and weld a stepper controller circuit which will allow us to control the steppers of our cardboard gantry. The Parts (1)L293NE or SN754410 H-bridge (1) Arduino micro-controller, (1)Solder-less Breadboard, 22-AWG hookup wire The Process Once we had all the cables and parts connected according to the circuit diagram and testing that it to works accurately on the breadboard, we transf

Material ConneXion
Our visit to the material ConneXion library was impressive. A broad selection of materials, textures, colors, and shapes allowed me to experience a profound and enriching research of the multiple options among materials. In my exploration, the Origami D-120 knitted material called my attention, because it blends materials with different properties and construction techniques to obtain a three-dimensional fabric. The collection is very well arranged and classified. Each materi

A soft Engineering Example: The Octopus Gripper
The Octopus gripper has been designed by Festo a robotics company based in Germany. This robotic arm is inspired by the octopus tentacles, it holds and sucks the objects.

Design Your Own Mold
The Task - Design an original mold concept - Can be digitally designed or physically designed - 3D modeled/printed, Laser Cut, Cardboard - Simple or as complex as you like - Use less than 50g of silicone to conserve materials for classmates - Make a test cast - Photograph your finished mold and cast - Write up a “lessons-learned” statement on your blog My Process For this subject I decided to continue working with the same "S" shape that I already created for my inflatable ho

AxiDraw
Experimenting with the AxiDraw drawing machine was fun! The Inkscape software was straightforward to install and operate, this software offers multiple possibilities for the configuration and implementation of the designs, the connection, and configuration of the machine were manageable and easy to understand. I used at first the examples that come with the software, trying and understanding how the machine behaves and how is the interaction with the software. I did not like

"Big Box" Store / Hobby Lobby
At this arts and craft store, I found many items that features softness. Most of the selected articles are combined structures between hard and soft. I am interested in exploring this interaction by analyzing how they are engineering. 1- Weaved tray 2- Teepee tent 3- Paper umbrella 4- Net enclosed bottled 5- Zipper 6- Basket 7- Lamp shade 8- Party decoration / wired butterfly 9- Snorkel and mask 10- paper lantern 11- Paper spiral decor 12-Spatula 13- Broom toy 14- Circle ra

Exploring Inflatables with Mylar
For this project, I wanted to explore different types of ways and study the characteristics of the material and techniques. I created some designs in Illustrator and laser cut two layers of Mylar with those designs, the laser cut gave me sharp edges and helped me keep Mylar layers together and in place. After cutting them, I used a small plate to manually seal the edges using a metal ruler as a guide to maintain a clean seal line. I got astonishing results when I inflated the
